He is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (CEng). He is also an Adjunct Professor of Composite Materials and Biostructures (Finland), and a Visiting Professor of Biomimetics (Indonesia). Prior to his current post, he held a Senior Marie Curie Fellowship where he worked on advanced composites for use in renewable energy technologies.
