Concluding remarks -- Appendices. -- A. Internal noise driven generalized Langevin equation to model the dynamics of scattering centres in ultrasound focal volume -- B. Reconstruction based on stochastic evolution.Ultrasound-mediated imaging in scattering media has deeper roots than hitherto imagined, with roots in condensed matter physics. Professors Vasu and Roy discuss these in order to establish a firm connection between measurement and a host of parameters in the medium, mechanical and optical. These connections are verified through recovery of parameters using simulations and experiments. Explaining their research, inter alia the authors explore problems such as noise-assisted small-signal amplification, stochastic search schemes for optimization and anisotropic particle diffusion. For graduates and researchers in the field, this book will highlight key features of the developing science and will enable practitioners to adopt the simulation algorithms and experimental modalities presented. Part of IOP Series in Advances in Optics, Photonics and OptoelectronicsAlso available in print.Mode of access: World Wide Web.System requirements: Adobe Acrobat Reader, EPUB reader, or Kindle reader.Ram M. Vasu completed a PhD in Physics from University of Aston in Birmingham. Following this, he was a Professor at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore between 2007 and 2016. His research interests focus predominantly on imaging and signal processing with special emphasis on optics and tomography. Professor Vasu has contributed to numerous publications and is currently a consultant for the Defence R&D Project granted to IISc. Debasish Roy obtained his PhD from the Indian Institute of Science followed by a followed by post-doctoral research at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. His research areas include computational mechanics of non-classical continua, stochastic dynamical systems and optimization and inverse problems and has published numerous works on these topics. He is currently a Professor at the Computational Mechanics Laboratory at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.Title from PDF title page (viewed on January 16, 2019).
